From Worcester Magazine:
BROTHERS BREAK BARRIERS
“Ilmar and Aldo López-Gavilán are musicians and brothers, born in Havana, Cuba. Separated by time, place, geography and political obstacles, they seldom have a chance to perform together. A rare chance to see them peform live is coming up, along with screening of a documentary about their lives, "Lost Hermanos/The Brothers," including an emotional reunion. At 14, Ilmar went to the Soviet Union, never living in Cuba again, and ultimately landing as a working chamber violinist in the U.S. Aldo flourished in Cuba, but has struggled due to U.S. sanctions. On Oct. 15, the film will be screened followed by a live, in-person recital by the brothers at St. John's High School in Shrewsbury. The event is presented by Music Worcester. (RD)”
